Yuzvendra Chahal and batting - A never-ending saga

Yuzevndra Chahal has the amazing ability to see the lighter side of things at any moment. Any happy dressing room needs a character who has the ability to see the funny side of things, come what may. Chahal has constantly been that source of positivity and enthusiasm in every dressing room he has graced with his presence.

He may be more than a handful with his leg-spinners, but Yuzvendra Chahal gets constantly trolled for his batting abilities. So, when India had all but lost the game at Lord’s in 2018, Chahal smashed one off David Willey straight down the ground, an impeccably timed straight drive which beat long-on to the boundary, the desolate Indian dressing room sprung back to life. Chahal being Chahal acknowledged the enthusiasm in the Lord’s balcony by raising his bat. Now, that’s a story Chahal would be telling his grandkids.

Chahal might be hovering around the tail-end of the batting order in Indian and RCB colors, but he has scores of 135 and 46 to his name in the Cooch-Behar Under-19 trophy playing against Himachal Pradesh for Haryana. When Captain Kohli came to know about it through a post by the RCB official handle, he was quick to tweet about Chahal possibly batting up the order in response,“Definitely exhibition game.”

Bowlers get the last pick of bats, and Chahal has a cunning way of circumnavigating the discrimination. Asked on an Indian comedy show if the rumors of him nicking bats from other batsmen in the team are true, Chahal did not plead his innocence, admitting to the crime, “Yes this is true. When the bats are distributed amongst the players they are distributed according to their batting talents. I always observe who has got the lightest weight bat and I usually use their bat. Now even players are sure and prepared that I will take their bat. Mai mauka dekh ke halka bat maar leta hoon.”
