We are keen and hungry to go out there and do well: Virat Kohli
Ever since the auctions for the 2020 edition of the IPL was completed and teams were finalized, Royal Challengers Bangalore has been the talking point in the cricketing alleys with experts believing that the Bangalore based franchise has a wholesome squad.
Now as the tournament is nearing its start, RCB captain Virat Kohli has agreed that it’s one of the most balanced RCB squad that he has been a part of the.
The captain said, “I would definitely agree with that (on the team being one of the most balanced squads). The reason why we wanted Chris Morris was precisely for that reason that he brings a lot of balance into the team. Some of the youngsters that we have signed, they are quite exciting too and obviously someone like Aaron Finch who has lot of experience playing international cricket for a while. Someone like Josh Philippe, he is up and coming very exciting player. So, yes, we have got a great balance of experience, the skill required for T20 cricket and the youngsters in the team who are eager to take up the responsibility and looking forward to opportunities that we are going to provide them. Kohli further added that this is the most complete team since the 2016 season which was an iconic year for the RCB and Kohli the batsman.
“It’s an exciting time as I said. Since the 2016 season, which we all loved to be a part of… since then, this is the most balanced I have felt as a squad and as a system where we are heading and I think it’s been very well taken care of and now it’s up to us to execute those things on the field.”
With such a balanced squad and a confident captain, the fans have been asking the usual question, will RCB do it this time? According to Virat Kohli there is no reason to believe why they will not.
“We have spoken about this. We have never felt so calm going into a season before. He (AB de Villiers) is coming from a very different space. He has been enjoying his life, he is very relaxed. He came out to play a few times recently and he was looking like he is playing in 2011. He is as fit as ever. I am feeling like I am in a much better space, much more balanced when it comes to the environment of the IPL” said Kohli who has scored the most runs in the IPL.”
However, Kohli also talked about having the ability to move on from what happened in the past and focus on the current season.
“It’s all about disconnecting with things that have happened in the past, not taking that baggage, I think we have done that too many times. Just because we have a bunch of players that are so skilled and people like seeing them play is the reason why people have had so much of expectations from the team as well. We are not going to think of what ifs, we know what we can do as a team and we are just very keen and hungry to go out there and do well.”
