Whenever we talk about peerless cricketers of the modern era, Virat Kohli tops the list of elites comfortably. From his iconic numbers to unreserved aggression, he signifies a bubble of energy sending his fans into a frenzy every time he takes the field.

As IPL comes closer than ever, countdowns across various social media platforms have been ringing louder than the one that consumes Times Square on a New Year’s Eve. Virat Kohli simply added fuel to fire with a countdown post of his own.

He will be returning to the ranks of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a staggering 15th season on the trot. Almost after nine years, he will be playing without the herculean onus of captaincy on his shoulders.

He shared the iconic snap of him raising his bat after a brilliant century in 2016 and that made the fans incredibly nostalgic. When we talk about fans, Rajasthan Royals star, Riyan Parag also chipped in with his fanboy moment.

2016 was one such year where Virat Kohli was at the height of his powers and he stitched together an incredible illustration of 973 runs with the bat. The Challengers felt almost invincible in that particular season only to fall short by 8 runs from the hallowed trophy in the finale.

Kohli’s post said, “Not too long to go now.” Well, it is just three days from the Challengers taking the field.

The post started creating quite a few significant ripples through the cricketing ocean as the hashtag “G.O.A.T” started trending again on social media.

20-year-old, Riyan Parag commented on Kohli’s post and did not attempt to conceal his love for the former Indian and RCB captain. He said, “Still remember watching this from the stands…”

IPL will be starting from Saturday with a blockbuster clash between the two finalists of the previous edition, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. The second day of the tournament will feature a double-header where RCB will be starring in the second contest of the day against the Punjab Kings.
