What happened when DC set foot in Bengaluru the last time?
The last time Delhi Capitals set foot in Bengaluru, RCB got to witness the spawn of one of their finest youngsters in the current mix, Vyshak Vijaykumar, whose captivating spell left the visitors reeling. Before today’s important clash against the Capitals, here’s a quick recapitulation of how things went down when the two forces met in Bengaluru last year.
Winning the toss, Delhi Capitals opted to bowl first. RCB did have a fine start with Virat Kohli leading the charge from the front with an exquisite half-century while Faf du Plessis (22) did rack up an early storm but couldn’t ride on it till the very end.

It looked like a good platform for the Royal Challengers to finish on a high but a sudden change in the nature of the surface left them clamped for room. They eventually managed to garner 174/6 with Shahbaz Ahmed pulling off a late blitz, scoring 20 off 12.
Despite RCB’s late wobble with the bat, their bowlers and fielders got off to a rock-solid start, defending whatever they had on board. Anuj Rawat produced the first breakthrough with an electric piece of work behind the stumps as he ran Prithvi Shaw out.
Doubling up on them Wayne Parnell and Mohammed Siraj got the better of Mitchell Marsh and Yash Dhull respectively, reducing DC to 2/3. Manish Pandey (50) did get a hang of affairs alongside a battling David Warner (19), steadying the ship briefly.
That was when Faf introduced RCB’s latest addition to the side, their home-grown lad, Vyshak Vijaykumar who claimed Warner to kickstart his reckoning IPL career. Following the fall of Warner, the Capitals couldn’t really recover from the jolt as they scored at a pace way lower than the asking rate.
Vyshak had two more strikes to his name, adding the crucial scalps of Axar Patel (21) and Lalit Yadav (4) to leave DC tottering. He had help from Wanindu Hasaranga and Mohammed Siraj to snuff out the remainder of the resistance as RCB clinched a 23-run win to assert their authority.
