It was a dream start for the Indian women’s team to the T20I series as they went on to beat Australia convincingly. A fine showdown from the bowlers spearheaded by Titas Sadhu and the duo of Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma was backed significantly well by the batting unit.

Indian skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, was delighted to see the team standing up to the occasion and delivering the payload handsomely. Despite being grounded in the ODI series, the Indian women kept on fighting with their heads held high and the rewards were reaped by Kaur and company in the T20I series opener.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Kaur said, “We were upto the mark in all 3 departments. Fielding is something we are really working hard. Today everyone is enjoying their fielding and really happy to see that. Credit goes to our fielding coach, he picked Jemi to slot at backward point and everyone knows their plan in the fielding and we got the results we wanted as well.”

She concluded by saying, “I just kept telling my bowlers to keep working hard and keep it tight. Credit to our head coach, we were about to pick a third spinner but at the last moment we decided to go with the extra seamer and we backed her (Titas Sadhu) and got the results as well. The way our bowling unit bowled today was superb, we would love to repeat this performance in the next game as well.”
