India’s final contest against Afghanistan in the final T20I witnessed a mind-bending result where the two teams finished on the same score before the Super Over came into effect. When a contest goes down the wire with all eyes on the final outcome, every run saved counts.

Talking on the note of saving runs, Virat Kohli put in a superhuman effort on the ropes that saw him saving a maximum, showboating his agility at the ripe age of 35. It was an electric effort which made the entire world stand up in unison in sheer awe of the brilliance. He also chipped in with a laserlike throw from the deep in the first Super Over that caught Gulbadin Naib short of his crease.

Not only did Kohli come in handy on the field in the final contest but when he returned in the second game of the series, he was equally electric and his energy is hardly rivalled despite his age. Ideally, cricketers who cross the age of 35 are seen manning the slip cordons or usually the areas where running is taken out of the equation. However, Kohli is just the opposite, as stated by India’s fielding coach, T. Dilip.

Talking in a video released by BCCI that was shot in the dressing room, awarding the Best Fielder of the Series, Dilip said, “This guy (Virat) has shown time and again in split-second decision-making. The way he keeps coming, saving runs, putting dives, going for hotspots, you can't take your eyes off none other than Virat Kohli. He won two medals in the World Cup. I still remember in the West Indies, when he told me that he didn't want to stand in slips, wanted to do it at short or fine-leg; challenging the youngsters that he wanted to be the best in the World Cup, and he showed that.”

He further added, “This is the intensity the man gives to the team. He not only does his job so well but apart from that he inspires everyone. It is a great opportunity to play along with him. I would like the other youngsters to come up and start replicating half of what he does, the whole team will look different. And today's winner is none other than Virat Kohli.”

Virat will be next seen in action in the upcoming England series where the Three Lions will be participating in five Test matches, eventually bringing on the toughest challenge so far for Team India in the latest cycle of the World Test Championship.
