There were pleasing signs in the dressing room – Faf du Plessis after RCB’s loss to LSG
It was another ordinary day in office for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they went down fighting against Lucknow Super Giants. Batting first, LSG posted 181 on the board. Quinton de Kock led the charge for them while Nicholas Pooran provided a late flourish. Chasing 182, RCB did get off to a good start but eventually things faded out for the Royal Challengers despite a late surge from Mahipal Lomror.
Talking at the post-match presentation, RCB captain Faf du Plessis spoke at length about the match. From highlighting what went wrong to what has to be done right, the skipper summed up the current situation for the Royal Challengers perfectly.
Faf said, “Spot on (dropped catches costing RCB). Two very good players, QDK was on 25-30 and Nicky P was on 2, 60-65 extra runs, mistakes like that can cost you in the IPL.”
Shedding some light about Mayank Yadav, Faf said, “It is the new action you haven't faced before, and if they have pace then you need time to get used to it. But his ability to control length and have accuracy is impressive.”
He eventually concluded with where things went downhill for RCB, adding, “I didn't think we were very good with our bowling especially in the powerplay, Maxwell brought it back and there were some pleasing signs in the death overs. You need two guys to bat through and get a partnership which we were not able to do. We need the strong characters in the dressing room to put their hand up.”
