Smriti Mandhana roped in by Adelaide Strikers for Women’s Big Bash League 2024
Defending WBBL champions, Adelaide Strikers, have signed RCB captain, Smriti Mandhana, for the upcoming edition of the T20 competition. Mandhana has been picked as the club’s pre-draft signing and this is going to be her fourth club in the history of the tournament.
Smriti Mandhana has been formerly a part of Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder in the WBBL. Her 114 off 64 for Sydney Thunder in 2021 still remains the joint second-highest score for an individual in the history of the tournament.
After being selected in the pre-draft, Smriti Mandhana said, “I always look forward to playing in Australia, and I'm excited about the opportunity to contribute to a team with a history of success like the Strikers. I'm thrilled to continue working with Luke. Our previous experiences together have been so rewarding, and I'm looking forward to building on that."
Talking about Mandhana, Strikers’ head coach Williams, who also coaches RCB in the WPL, said, “Smriti is an exceptional talent, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Strikers. Her technical skill, experience and strategic insights are a tremendous asset for us. I know firsthand the dedication and energy she brings to the team and on the field. Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we drive for success in the upcoming season."
