Rohit Sharma registers two important feats during India’s win against Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma has found himself in a rich vein of form in the ongoing Asia Cup as he has smashed three half-centuries already, one each against Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Opening the batting in conditions that have been tricky in Sri Lanka, Rohit has been at his affluent best, currently on top of the run charts with 194 runs from four matches at an average of 64.66.
In the tie against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma racked up a herculean feat in the antiquity of ODIs that propelled him to a club of elites. Rohit became the sixth Indian to complete 10000 runs in ODIs, which also made him the second fastest member to reach the milestone, eclipsing the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara, Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni and India’s current coach, Rahul Dravid.
Virat Kohli is the fastest to the 10,000 ODI runs milestone, having gotten to it in just 205 innings, surpassing Tendulkar by 18 innings, Ganguly by 22 innings, Ponting by 25 innings and Dhoni by 32 innings. Alongside the feat of 10000 runs, Rohit also etched another record to his name by hitting the most sixes ever in the Asia Cup.
