Shubman Gill rises to No.2 in ICC ODI rankings

Shubman Gill was in top form against Pakistan in the Super Four fixture, where he negated the menacing swing from Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah very efficiently while playing his shots fearlessly. Continuing his meteoric ascent, Shubman Gill took one more step towards glory as he clinched the second position in the latest ICC ODI batters' rankings.

Going all out against Pakistan, Gill blasted a well-constructed half-century. Next, in the upcoming contest against Sri Lanka, Gill did get off to a start but couldn’t capitalize on the same. However, that did very little to dismantle his rise as he continued to rule the roost, inching closer to that hallowed No.1 spot.

Apart from Gill's achievement, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma too re-entered the Top 10 batters list. Sharma currently holds the 8th spot while Kohli is one position lower, in 9th. While Rohit smashed is currently atop the run-scorers chart in the Asia Cup, Kohli's century vs Pakistan helped him gain places.
