Joe Root upholds Kohli’s and Rohit’s longevity in the sport

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been absolutely brilliant in the ongoing Asia Cup, with the Indian skipper smashing two consecutive half-centuries while Kohli managed to notch up a fine century. 

Former England captain, Joe Root, another contemporary of these two cricketing greats believes that India should be excited about the fact that they are blessed with two icons of the game in the squad. From a wide array of strokes in their arsenal to taking the bowlers apart sensationally, they are capable of producing miracles too.

Talking to Times of India. Joe Root said, “I think it's very dangerous just to write off players like Virat and Rohit because of their age. Look at how long Chris Gayle, for example, played T20 cricket. Some of the best players in the world have gone longer, especially in T20 cricket, and have been wonderful with their performances. As long as you're fit, you go on and play.”

India have already clinched their ticket to the finale of the Asia Cup but as a preparatory chapter, they will face off against Bangladesh, a clash which will somewhat allow them to test their bench strength too.
