Revealed: Sunil Gavaskar's message for Team India ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023

India have already started their World Cup preparations with an ODI series against Bangladesh at Dhaka. Indian cricket legend, Sunil Gavaskar had an important message for Team India as the Men in Blue eye to recreate the magic of 2011.

The legendary batter said that if India have to leave a mark, they will have to keep their core group intact over the span of the following year.

Gavaskar said, “I hope there is not too much chopping and changing. I also hope there is not too much of giving a break now. Then the combination takes a long time to gel when you come into the World Cup. And then in the World Cup, there are no matches where you can afford to lose. So, it is very important that the core plays all matches. Yes, there will be an odd player coming in somewhere when you need an extra bowler or a batter. But the core has to play every single one-day game. No rest. You are playing for India. No rest. You want to win the World Cup. And for that, you need that combination to be absolutely gelling every single game.”

India is currently involved in an ODI series against Bangladesh, the first of their bilateral ODI series in sub-continent conditions ahead of next year's World Cup in India.
