RCB Podcast: Shreyanka Patil reveals how her coach inspired her to be an all-rounder

Shreyanka Patil has proven herself to be an efficient all-rounder in recent times. Whether in the Royal Blue threads or the Red, Gold and Blue ones, she is turning out into a force to be reckoned with. However, she wasn't an all-rounder always.

Her bowling prowess was pretty much on the sharper side while her batting back in the day would be deemed as someone who could have played a handful of instrumental knocks towards the latter half of the innings, chiming it at number eight or nine. So what changed for Shreyanka? Actually, a lot.

Talking on the latest episode of RCB Podcast, Shreyanka Patil revealed that it was her coach whose intervention uplifted the game. She said, “When I started playing for the state team, I didn’t really know how to bat (bat). I knew only one shot and that was sweep. That was the only shot I knew and was my favourite shot and still is my favourite shot.”

She further added, “I didn’t really start with the grip and all the technical bit. I would just see the ball and sweep. If I get it’s runs, if I don’t, I am out. I was more interested in bowling and fielding than batting because no one worked on my batting as such.”

Shreyanka continued, “Five years back when I met Arjun sir, he wanted to work on my batting. He figured it out that I had something in myself. I didn’t really have that mindset that I was going to be an all-rounder per se because my first priority was bowling and fielding. He persisted that I had something in me which he wanted to work upon. That is when I started working and realized that I can get better.”
