RCB Game Day – Rajat Patidar reveals why Eden Gardens is a very special venue for him

With IPL 2025 beginning today, RCB will be feature in the season opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders, at the Eden Gardens. This game will also be marking the first match as a captain for Rajat Patidar, who took over the reins from Faf du Plessis.

Back in 2022, Patidar smashed an incredible century in the play-offs against Lucknow Super Giants which hogged him the much-needed limelight. From thereon, it has been an upward climb to glory. Talking on the RCB Game Day video, Patidar opened up on what Eden Gardens means to him.

Patidar said, “I will never forget this ground. My career changed and it changed from here. And once again from here, I start a new chapter, this time as a captain of RCB and that too in this special ground. Let’s see how it goes.”

He also talked briefly about the practice sessions, stating, “I feel, overall we have covered most of the things in the training yards. Approximately, we have done 10-12 practice sessions. I think when we practice together, we know each other as well. This has resulted in a good environment in the team. We are raring to go with full-on energy.”

He concluded with a note for the fans, stating, “You are very special for the team. Your support and your love is very special. Just keep supporting us and keep loving us. We all love you and good luck for the first match.”
