RCB Game Day – Malolan Rangarajan on "trusting" players to do well irrespective of conditions
RCB are back in action tonight as they play their rivals from last year’s WPL final, Delhi Capitals. After a sumptuous win in the opening fixture, they will be hopeful of making it two in two, with eyes on the top spot of the points table. Talking in the Game Day preview, RCB's Assistant Coach Malolan Rangarajan opened up on the last victory against Gujarat Giants and how important momentum is.
Malo said, “Any day, any win at any point in time is very important. Especially when you have started working and the manner in which you have won is even more important.”
Emphasizing further on the mindset of the game and what the conversations are, Malo added, “A lot of our conversations are about how good we are and how better we can become. Tomorrow it’s DC and in a few days’ time it will be Mumbai. So we don’t spend too much time thinking about how good or bad the opposition is. WPL, if you see, is getting better year by year.”
Decoding the game against the Giants, Malo concluded, “Our game certainly looked like batting second had an unfair advantage, if I may use that word. Because it was a different outfield. The batting pitch was different. So, I think it will be sensible for us to go to the ground tomorrow, see first what pitch you are playing on and not have any preconceived notions about if it’s helpful batting first or bowling first. We have enough trust in our players that they will be able to assess the conditions and put the opposition under pressure.”
