RCB Bold Diaries: “It’s not even about passing on what I know” - Dinesh Karthik on mentor role

After Dinesh Karthik bid adieu to IPL last year in a player role, RCB roped him in as a batting coach and mentor ahead of IPL 2025.

He was a part of the opening practice session for the season alongside Andy Flower, keeping a keen tab on affairs.

In the latest RCB Bold Diaries video, RCB’s former Finisher Supreme spoke at length about how being a part of the game recently can help him shape the players. He also highlighted how as a coach he is planning to refine his thoughts before passing things onto the youngsters.

Karthik said, “The fact that I have played the sport recently gives me relevance but it's not about me, isn’t it? What I have done wouldn’t definitely work for everybody. It’s not even about passing on what I know. What I need to understand is technique and more so every person that I am working with, to understand what would work for them. You need to come from that school.”

He continued, It’s a learning process. I am still learning. Luckily for me, great people like Andy and Mo are there, who are actually guiding me a lot. They’re an institution when it comes to coaching, they are absolutely insane. The way I have learnt so much, that I’ve actually had a lot of fun doing this so far.”
