In its 87-year-long history, last season was the first time that Ranji Trophy could not be conducted. But with T20I World Cup moving to the UAE, the BCCI is planning to resume domestic cricket, including Ranji Trophy.

“The BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with the health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

The men’s season will kick off with the 22-day Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy starting October 20. The Ranji Trophy will start on November 19 and continue till February 16th. A week after the Ranji Trophy’s end date, the month-long Vijay Hazare one-day tournament will begin on February 23 next year.

However, for now, there are no plans to conduct Duleep, Deodhar and Irani Trophy at this stage.

Apart from the senior women’s ODI league and ODI Challengers, two competitions for women’s U-23 and three for U-19 are also planned. With ICC adding women’s U-19 World Cup to its calendar, the junior competitions are now mandatory.

It’s been learnt that an increase in compensation for domestic players, who missed out on their earnings last year, was also discussed.
