Well, it’s possible: Deep Dasgupta on Virat Kohli opening for India in the T20 World Cup

With the 2021 T20 World Cup approaching, a debate may have erupted about who will open the innings for Team India alongside Rohit Sharma and where will Virat Kohli bat?

Earlier this year, during the fifth T20I against England, Captain Kohli opened the innings for India, and later stated that he would do so again for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021. This could be viewed as an indication that the 32-year-old is competing for the top of the order slot.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Deep Dasgupta talked about Team India’s game plan in terms of the top order heading into the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“Well it’s possible, and Virat also mentioned during the last series, that he’s seriously thinking about opening with Rohit, he might or whatever he said. But I don’t know whether it’s the right way to go about it. A lot will depend on how KL Rahul’s form is,” said Deep Dasgupta.

The possibility of Virat and Rohit opening the innings for India is still on the table: Dasgupta

“If KL Rahul is batting the way he was a year ago then I don’t see any reason why Virat should open. Then Rohit and KL can open, and Virat can come at three… I won’t say Virat and Rohit ‘will’ open at this point in time, I will say that option is still is open,” he added.
