Parthiv Patel credits IPL too for India’s Lord’s win

2021 has been a magical year for Team India, after beating Australia in Australia, they are now eyeing a similar heist against England. Virat Kohli’s men are already 1-0 up in the Test series, courtesy of a heroic win in Lord’s Test.

Former India and RCB wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel thinks that some part of the credit for that win should also go to the IPL.

“If you look at the Indian dressing room as of now, you see Ishant Sharma roaming around with Virat Kohli. But, you also see Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, both different characters move around. Rishabh Pant goes out with Hardik Pandya, one is from the west, the other is from the north. There are a few guys from the east I think," Parthiv said Players’ Lounge podcast, hosted by Mayanti Langer Binny and Graeme Swann.

Parthiv elaborated further saying how even the language is not a barrier among the players when it comes to forming the bond.

“If you look at Dinesh Karthik and Hardik/ Krunal Pandya, they are best of friends. One can’t speak English, one can’t speak Hindi and still they get along really well. I think why the Indian team is doing really well in this era is because they gel really well together and IPL has to get credit for it as well," he further added.

There are still three matches to go in the series, and one would hope that this brotherhood among the players in the team continues to flourish, helping them conquer the Test series.
