NCA’s ‘corporate class’ impresses aspiring coaches
National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has been a hub of excellence, producing the next generation of cricketers and fuelling the system with quality coaches. Rahul Dravid’s leadership has only made the system more robust.
Dravid, who recently toured Sri Lanka as an interim coach of a limited overs’ specialist side keeps innovating to ensure that NCA lives up to the demands and challenges of modern-day cricket.
In an attempt to revamp the coaching manual, the NCA now has a corporate class feature for those attending courses for coaching here.
The coaching module now features a corporate class that endeavours to prepare the coaches for dealing with off-field stakeholders.
"The course has been devised by former Mumbai seamer Kshemal (Waingankar), who is an MBA and has a corporate background. I have never attended a class like this but it was very unique and helped me broaden my horizon," PTI quoted a former cricketer who attended the class.
"Well, it was about making us understand the difference between 'bargaining' and 'negotiation'. We were told that we don't need to solve a problem but it needs to be checked what are the troubleshooting methods that we deploy (approach) in a critical situation," he said.
What also came as a surprise to those attending the course at NCA was the fact that Rahul Dravid does not take classes, but attends them and also works on solving problems with these aspiring coaches.
