It turned out into a blockbuster Friday for India at the Paris Paralympics as they finished the day with four medals. Apart from Avani Lekhara’s gold, Mona Agarwal and Preethi Pal clinched bronze in their respective disciplines. The fourth medal of the day came through Manish Narwal, who secured silver in Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event.

Manish amassed a total of 234.9 points, giving Korea’s Jeongdu Jo a run for his money. However, it was the Korean who prevailed in the end to clinch the gold with a score of 237.4. Manish had also clinched the gold medal in the mixed SH1 50m pistol at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

The 22-year-old had a rough start to the day which saw him get five 10-plus scores out of the first five shots, eventually keeping him out of medal contention. However, as soon as Stage 2 started, from four shots, he fired three 10-plus shots, yanking the contest back in his favour.

The Indian shooter found his foothold at the perfect time and went past China’s Chao Yang to move to the top spot. However, just one 10-plus score in the last eight shots allowed Jeongdu Jo to clinch the gold while Manish had to be content with silver.
