India added another medal to their tally as Rubina Francis, a para shooter from Jabalpur, clinched bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. Francis landed a total score of 211.1 to finish third in the eight-participant finale.

Her qualification rounds didn’t go so well as she finished seventh. But a terrific turnaround of events in the finals saw her leapfrog stalwarts of the discipline. Francis became the fifth medal winner for India in the Paris Paralympics after Avani Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, Manish Narwal and Preethi Pal.

She started making ripples in her training days and the first great ascension in her career came back in the Lima 2021 World Cup. Her performance there propelled her to a spot in the Tokyo Para Games. Since then, she had never looked back and her latest display of triumph in Paris was another masterful testimony to her brilliance.
