I’ve never been surprised by the amount of runs he scored - Sir Garfield Sobers on Virat Kohli
As India eye a comeback against West Indies in the third ODI which is slated to be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Tuesday, a lot of focus will be on India’s playing XI, whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma return to the playing or the experimentation continues with the series on the line.
Amidst all the chaos and speculations, Caribbean icon, Sir Garfield Sobers shared his thoughts on how impressive Virat Kohli has been on the cricket circuit. He also mentioned the fact that the former Indian captain needs to be slightly attentive and play low on expectations for cricket can be a very funny and unpredictable game at times.
Talking about Kohli with Rev Sportz, Sobers said, “I think he is a good player. He has the right approach, attitude, and he plays very well. I’ve never been surprised by the amount of runs he scored.”
He then shifted his attention to all the noise about the 100 centuries that is often being spoken about when Virat’s name is in the mix, adding, “Well, I wouldn’t say that because sometimes the game can become very funny. You can have some bowlers that are good too. And you have players who can do certain things with the ball at times that you don’t even think about. You have been playing often with these types of players, and if you are good enough, eventually you will rise.”
