Royal Challengers Bangalore beat arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs in the most anticipated South Indian Derby. India and RCB captain, Virat Kohli set the tone of the match and scored an unbeaten 90 off 52 balls. Chasing 170 of their 20 overs, CSK never really found a grip to consolidate the innings.

The big money acquisition, Chris Morris finally made his debut for Bengaluru-based side and didn’t fail to impress in his first-ever match in the Dream11 IPL.

"I was very nervous, it has been a while since I last played a game, so I was very nervous. I had butterflies in my stomach, it was like I was making my Test debut again. Happy to get on the park; any contribution I can make, it is a good feeling. The team is very happy and it is very satisfying for myself, so yeah it's been hard work since been in Dubai, had a slight injury so we were very happy to be back on the park and the medical team have been absolutely excellent at RCB. So very chuffed and I’m just happy with today,” Chris Morris said during the post-match press conference.

It was indeed a dream debut for the 33-year-old as he picked up three wickets and gave away just 19 runs from his spell of four overs.

“I think it's obviously been quite an interesting tournament so far, especially for the bowlers because the pitches have changed slightly. I mean it's something when the due comes in plays as a factor and you know some days are dry, some days on so we've obviously tried to figure out and sum up what the conditions are on the day and what would shoot our bowling unit in terms of what balls we want to bowl,” he said.

"I think guys haven't been playing cricket for so long and for the guys to come back and hit their strap straight away we've been quite difficult, so it would have taken a couple of games for the boys to start getting their rhythms and hitting the execution of what they needed to do. Surely the guys are starting to do that more and more consistently,” he added.

RCB’s bowling unit found balance with Chris Morris coming into the mix. The bowlers had a brilliant day at the office against CSK as they bowled 48 dot balls out of their 20 overs.

“If you look at the guys bowled really well today, they stuck to their guns and they're stuck in there as long as they could, even though they knew there were some hitters coming in later in the evening. So I’m very proud of the boys and a very nice bowling unit to be bowling with very chafed,” he said.

"Halfway through our batting innings, I would be lying to you if I say we did not think that we needed to get a move on, Virat played brilliantly, the wicket was too pacy and sticky, it was a Test match length wicket, you did not need to try too much on this wicket. At the end of the day, the wickets will get slower, hopefully, some of the bowlers will get luckier as compared to the batsmen.”

Morris was in awe of Captain Kohli's classic knock.

"After 16 overs, we just thought something needed to happen, there's a reason why Virat has the most number of runs in the IPL. He is an absolute genius, he did really well against such an experienced bowling lineup. He likes to lead from the front. I like how he goes about his game, he is a leader who likes to win and it helps the rest of the team," he added.
