It was actually good to have pressure in the first game – Shubman Gill
Team India was finally back on the winning track after a sloppy start to the series that saw them crumbling despite a modest total on the board. However, the retaliation was louder than ever as India spreadeagled Zimbabwe by a staggering 100 runs, stamping their authority.
Shubman Gill who said that it was his slip up that cost India dearly in the series opener, was delighted to see his boys stepping up to the task when it mattered. Talking at the post-match presentation, Gill opened up on the win and how the youngsters handled the pressure brilliantly.
Gill said, “Very happy, great to be back on the winning note back again. With the way Abhishek and Rutu batted, it was not easy especially in the powerplay, with the ball moving around but Abhi and Rutu built the innings brilliantly. Yesterday, it was more about not being able to handle the pressure, it's a young side and many of them are new to international exposure.”
He further added, “It was actually good to have pressure in the first game and we knew what to expect coming into this game. We have got three matches to go and we are looking forward to them. It's always good to have more options rather than not having options.”
India will be back in action on July 10th where they take the yard again for the third T20I of the five-match series.
