Smriti Mandhana wins the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June 2024

Smriti Mandhana called the shots emphatically in the ongoing series against South Africa as the RCB Women’s skipper was not just sensational with the bat but even sparked some sheen with the ball in her hands. Consequently, she was awarded the ICC June Women’s Player of the Month for her stellar run across all formats.

In what turned out to be Smriti’s maiden triumph in becoming the ICC Women’s Player of the Month, she went onto beat England’s Maia Bouchier and Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne in the long race.

Leading the Indian charge against the Proteas women, Mandhana clobbered 113 and 136 before capping off the ODI series with another scintillating 90 in the series finale.

She then extended her sparkling run to the one-off Test as well, blasting a fine 149 from just 161 balls as a flurry of records tumbled on the first day of the Test against South Africa.

Talking to ICC upon winning the award, Mandhana said, “I'm glad to be named ICC Women's Player of the Month for the month of June. I'm really happy with the way I think the team has performed and I'm happy to contribute for us, winning the ODI and the Test series. Hopefully we can continue our form, and I can even further contribute to win matches for India."
