The Indian cricket team punched their ticket to the Super Eights with a fine win over the USA last night. Things looked questionable at the start of the innings, especially with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the pavilion early but a brilliant knock from Suryakumar Yadav who realized the pulse alongside Shivam Dube who kept things calm, Team India cruised to the finishing line without breaking any sweat.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma highlighted the key pointers that changed the game while also praising the USA cricketers who dug pretty close to heart in an all-important clash between the two top teams of Group A.

Rohit said, “Knew it would be tough. Credit to us for the way we held our nerve and got that partnership. Credit to Surya and Dube for showing the maturity and taking us through.”

Praising the USA cricketers, the Indian skipper said, “Lot of these guys have played cricket together, very happy to see their progress. Saw them last year in MLC as well, they are all hard-working guys.”

He also heaped plaudits on the Indian bowlers adding, “We knew bowlers had to take the lead, run scoring was difficult. All the bowlers did the job, particularly Arshdeep.”

Rohit also spoke about Shivam Dube’s bowling who dished out a solitary over last night, adding, “You want options and we should be able to use them as and when we can. Today, the pitch favoured the seamers so wanted to use him.”

The captain was delighted about India’s win, stating, “It is a big relief, playing cricket here wasn't easy. We had to stick through till the end in all 3 games. Will take a lot of confidence from these wins.”

Sharma concluded by talking about Suryakumar Yadav, adding, “He showed he has a different game to him, that's what you expect from experienced players. Credit to the way he stuck through today to take the game deep and win it for us.”
