India vs England: India restore parity with a thumping win in 2nd Test

For a team used to being unbeatable at home, the first Test of the series came as a shocker for India. But they did not waste time and regrouped to claim a resounding 317 run win at the same venue to restore parity.

Starting the 4th day on 53/3, England needed something ultra-special to save the Test match but India were in no mood to allow them the window. Daniel Lawrence was the first one to depart with Ashwin foxing him in the line as Rishabh Pant displayed tremendous glove work to affect the stumping.

Ben Stokes and Joe Root resisted for sometime before the local boy tricked the England all-rounder. England lost two more wickets before lunch and only formalities remained.

Once the game resumed post lunch, Axar Patel removed Joe Root and Olly Stone. Moeen Ali decided to throw his willow at everything and in the process clubbed five sixes. But it was always going to be a case one delivery which Kuldeep Yadav delivered to strike the final blow.

On a track which came under the scanner for supporting the home team, India proved with their performance that it was about skills and execution more than the surface. With two centuries and as many fifers from the Indian camp, the hosts could not have conveyed their message better to their critics and opponents.

The series is now tied at 1-1, and the doors to World Test Championship remain opened for Team India. The caravan now moves to Ahmedabad which will host its first ever Pink Test from 24th February.
