It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for India A as they had to brave intensely choppy waters to try and find a way home against Bangladesh in the semi-final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup. Winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to field first and were in for a joyride as India had a wobbly start.

Despite a decent start from Abhishek Sharma, things started going haywire for the Indians as they lost their top-order in a very short time. In a cavalcade of woes, Abhishek Sharma fell for a well-constructed 34 while Nikin Jose, B Sai Sudarshan and Nishant Sindhu could do very little to help India get their innings in place.

It was the captain, Yash Dhull, who managed to show the path, scoring 66 from 85 balls while he had received help from Manav Suthar and Rajvardhan Hangargekar in the lower middle-order as India finished at 211.

Chasing 212, Bangladesh got off to a flyer through Mohammad Naim and Tanzid Hasan as the duo put up a fine partnership of 70 runs. However, the Indian bowlers kept on chipping away at Bangladesh as Manav Suthar struck twice while Nishant Sindhu bagged his first in the form of Tanzid Hasan, which left Bangladesh wobbling.

Things went from bad to worse for the Bangladeshis as Sindhu continued tormenting the hapless batters while Suthar clinched three for himself to get India back in the game. The early brilliance knitted by Bangladesh would fall short as India skittled out the latter for 160.

Nishant was the pick of the lot with a sizzling fifer while Manav Suthar’s three-fer got the job done for India as they clinched a comprehensive victory by 51 runs, booking them a berth in the final where they will be confronting their arch-rivals, Pakistan.
