Mitchell Starc is one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket at the moment and the Aussie quick has been terrorizing batters for almost a decade now. The last time he was a part of the IPL, he donned the Red and Gold threads and spearheaded the pace battery for a couple of seasons, playing a total of 27 matches.

However, post 2015, he never returned to the IPL and despite speculations building around him, he chose to stay away from the glitz and glam of the cash-rich league. In a bombshell statement made by the Australian quick, he expressed his desire to return to IPL in the upcoming season, also clarifying his reason for the move.

Talking in the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, Starc said, “Look it's been eight years. I'm definitely going back in [next] year. Amongst other things, it's a great lead-up to the T20 World Cup. So, a good opportunity to see if anyone's interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it's somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think it's a perfect opportunity to put my name in.”

Starc’s return to the IPL will definitely amp up the auction interests for the upcoming season. His last stint for RCB produced handsome numbers of 34 wickets from 27 games at an average of 20.38 and a strike rate of 17.05.
