India vs Pakistan clash on September 10 to have a reserve day

India’s first Super Four clash in Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan has been allotted a reserve day in case rain plays spoilsport, making it the only match apart from the final to accommodate any interruptions. It is understood that if rain permits play either before or after the start of the game, the match will be continued on September 11 from the position when play was abandoned.

The India vs Pakistan Asia Cup clash will be hosted by the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, and the last time these two teams met was in Kandy, where rain washed out the entire Pakistan chase after India put up 266 on the board in the innings.

The weather already seems to be having quite a say, with heavy showers in Colombo forcing the Indian team to practice in the indoor nets facility till Thursday. However, the rain gods were kind enough to allow the cricketers to come out and play on Friday as it didn’t pour any more.

Sunday has a 90% chance of rain, meaning the clash between the two arch-rivals can very well be interrupted quite a bit by rain, an outcome that can incur massive losses for the broadcasters and various other sponsors who are rooting for this titanic clash to be concluded. However, the addition of the extra day has sparked a bit of discontent between the other teams as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka both were surprised by the fact that there could be an additional day and that too for a solitary contest, while their matches do not have such a provision.
