I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL – Rinku Singh elated with the performance against Ireland in the second T20I
It was a successful outing for India at Malahide in the 2nd T20I as they clinched a fine series win against Ireland despite the best of efforts from the hosts to prevent a visitors’ series win. Rinku Singh played a very special knock as he smashed 38 from just 22 balls while he was also accompanied by the hard-hitting Shivam Dube in the end.
It was the Indian vice-captain for the series, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who laid the foundation for the Men in Blue to finish big with a well-constructed half-century while Sanju Samson chimed in with a crucial knock as well. The Indian bowlers put up another seasoned collective display that saw Ireland coming up a cropper.
Awarded the Player of the Match for his well-played 38, Rinku was elated about how it all panned out for him. Talking at the post-match conference, the southpaw said, “I am feeling very good. I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL. I was very confident and tried to stay calm. I listen to the captain.”
He further added, “I am feeling very nice. I have been playing for 10 years. All my efforts have borne fruition. I am happy to get the Man of the Match award in my first game.”
Rinku’s partnership with Dube was crucial in shaping up the fate of the game for India and with the series in the bag, the Men in Blue would be hopeful of making it a clean sweep.
