I think the team can stack up any different way – Josh Hazlewood hints at how Australia may line-up for the upcoming World Cup
As Australia gears up for the upcoming South Africa series that would feature both T20Is and ODIs, they will be hoping to test out their entire side against the mighty Proteas as this will be their penultimate chapter ahead of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. Post this, they will face-off against India before the quadrennial extravaganza arrives. One of Australia’s star bowlers, Josh Hazlewood, opened up on what can be the possible factors that would determine Australia’s playing XI for the quadrennial extravaganza.
Talking to reporters, Josh Hazlewood dropped a hint at how Australia may choose their squad for the upcoming World Cup and he was certain about the fact that unless there is some serious injury which may restrict the player from giving his best, by no chance would the Roos look to bring in a replacement.
According to Fox cricket, Hazlewood said, “In India, you face so many different conditions all around the country. It changes from Chennai to Dharamshala to Mumbai. We’ve got a few different ways we can stack our team. We’ve got obviously the all-rounders, we’ve got a number of them, they can pretty much all play together at times when they’re all fit.”
He further added, “We can go the quicks route, play three quicks, or even less, then we’ve got the spinners that come into play as well. Sometimes in a tournament, the further you go in, the wickets get a bit worn towards the back-end, so I think the team can stack up any different way.”
It would be intriguing to see how Australia lines up for the upcoming World Cup but before they could finally decide their playing XI, they will keep a keen eye on their playing XI against South Africa which can determine the fate of the upcoming days for the side.
