He so badly wants RCB to win – AB de Villiers on Virat’s unchecked emotions and love for RCB
Virat Kohli has been a crucial name in Indian cricket for 15 long years and he still continues to dictate the proceedings in phenomenal fashion. As India heads towards another ICC Cricket World Cup, Kohli is going to be a key ingredient of the side, with the Men in Blue desperately looking to end the 12-year-long drought as their last triumph in the mega-event came way back in 2011.
We are all aware of the fact that Kohli is a man driven by emotions and he has not made any attempt at concealing his emotions on the field. Despite contrasting opinions from others, the King has always donned his heart on his sleeve.
Virat’s former teammate, AB de Villiers, opened up on how there have been occasions where he had asked Kohli to keep a slight check on his emotions. ABD said, “He’s an incredible character, very intense on the cricket field. Throughout my whole IPL career, I have tried to calm him down. You can ask him; he’ll vouch for me. I’ve always tried to tell him, ‘Virat relax. It’s okay, everything is fine.”
He further added, “He so badly wants RCB to win, he would want to control every player on the field and make sure everyone is in the right place all the time, with every ball. You could see him get emotional on the field, which I absolutely love. He means good, he wants to win.”
Talking about his role in the World Cup, ABD said, “Sometimes he needs to calm down and he’s been doing that of late. I have seen him really relaxed in taking on more of a senior role in the team and sort of doing the whole meditation kind of role. If Virat does that a bit more, India might have a very good chance in this World Cup to bring that trophy home.”
