Faf du Plessis decodes RCB’s first defeat against KKR in IPL 2023
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had an ordinary outing against the Kolkata Knight Riders where they got off to a decent start but were found wanting in front of KKR’s spin trio. Shardul Thakur kept RCB at bay with the bat following which Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli did provide RCB with the desired start. However, it all fizzled out as they started losing wickets in a hurry.
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis spoke post the loss where he explained where it went wrong for the side. Shedding some light on the wicket, he said, “We had it set up there in the 12th or 13th over... It was probably 20-25 runs too much. Shardul played well. Their leg spinners got on top of us.”
Adding further to that, he explained how there was double trouble for the Challengers, stating, “It was still a good wicket but the nature of mystery spinners is that they get wickets. They put the squeeze on us.”
He concluded by saying, “We were pretty average with the bat. You learn lessons. Two or three days ago, you played brilliant cricket. It got away from us."
RCB return to action on April 10th as they host the Lucknow Super Giants at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
