Rajasthan Royals hope to get back to winning ways against bruised Delhi Capitals
As the Barsapara Stadium prepares to host another IPL 2023 contest, hosts Rajasthan Royals take on the Delhi Capitals in what is going to be an important encounter for both sides.
The Royals will be coming into this fixture on the back of a defeat against the Punjab Kings in a nail-biting thriller as they fell short of the finish line by a meagre 5-run margin. Despite Sanju Samson leading from the front with a well-constructed 42 and handy knocks from Shimron Hetmyer (36) and a young Dhruv Jurel (32*), it wasn’t enough to get past the finish line.
Delhi Capitals have a lot more on the line as they were outclassed in another meek submission against defending champions, Gujarat Titans. David Warner’s warring knock at the beginning did very little to dissuade the Capitals of their worst premonitions and despite Anrich Nortje’s raw pace that saw him constantly clocking 145 kph+ and also bagging a couple of wickets, the Titans comfortably romped home to another win.
If reports are to be believed, in a massive dent to RR’s chances, Jos Buttler may not be available for a week as he copped a finger injury in the last game, fuelling Delhi’s hopes. However, Delhi will need to do a lot more than just leave things to hope as they work towards avoiding a hat-trick of defeats to start IPL 2023.
