Wankhede to host epic rivalry as Mumbai Indians clash against Chennai Super Kings
The Wankhede Stadium will host a clash of the titans as MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will face off against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. Two of the most successful teams of the tournament, CSK and MI will be hoping to prise out what can very well be a crackerjack of a game as old foes go head-on.
Mumbai Indians started their tournament with a loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they were outclassed by the opening duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. The Mumbai Indians batting unit was a no-show against RCB’s well-oiled bowling apart from Tilak Varma’s 46-ball-84 and they’ll want to turn things around quickly.
Chennai Super Kings, on the contrary, will be hoping to replicate their winning form in the second game as they outlasted the Lucknow Super Giants in a humongous run-chase, defending 217 successfully. It was a collective display from the Kings as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway set the tone with scorching knocks of 57 and 47 respectively. Moeen Ali starred with the ball, registering magical figures of 4/26 that ensured CSK were always in the quest for a win.
As the two teams meet, both sides would be hoping for their big guns to fire, particularly after a sore start to the campaign.
