They say that batters win you matches but it is bowlers who win you tournaments. At the end of it all in a batters’ dominated game, it is the bowlers’ maneuvers that underscores the edges and eventually secure the ultimate advantage.

With the biggest T20 global phenomenon all set to unfurl upon us, Team India will be eyeing to inflict some serious heat upon their counterparts as they have one of the key bowlers in their echelons in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. Over the years though, the Indian spinners have had a significant say in terms of racking up some serious scalps. Here’s a quick glance at the top two wicket takers for India in the history of the T20 World Cup.

Ravichandran Ashwin – 32 wickets

The seasoned off-spinner is not going to be a part of this year’s World Cup but he still remains the top Indian wicket taker in the history of the tournament. He claimed 32 scalps from just 24 games at an economy rate of 6.49 while registering a BBI of 4/11.

Ravindra Jadeja – 21 wickets

The all-rounder will be making a comeback in this year’s biennial extravaganza and he has claimed 21 wickets so far, being the second highest wicket taker for the country from 22 matches at an economy rate of 7.14. Jadeja was missed dearly in the last edition of the tournament and will be hopeful of cementing India’s dominance in this T20 World Cup 2024.
