Virat Kohli is very clever the way he uses his words: Matthew Wade

Diatribes were never intrinsic to the Indian set-up. Chirping at the opposition was a game ploy perfectly planned and executed by teams like Australia. But until not very long ago, Indian teams eschewed the tactic.

Then, Virat Kohli happened.

He changed the dynamics, especially after the reins of the captaincy were handed over to him. Now the Indian Team deploys the same methodology against teams like Australia and runs away with the advantage.

The impact of the change is telling and teams refrain from engaging the Indian side in a battle Kohli’s men seem to have perfected.

Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade has revealed that he may not engage the Indian team in a verbal battle during the Test series later this year as Kohli’s men thriven on verbal confrontations.

“They're a hard team, they use it to their advantage very well,” Wade told reporters during a video interaction.

“Virat is very clever the way he uses his words or his body language. So, they use it as an advantage now. To be honest, I don't really want to engage too much into that.

“I know that they thrive off that energy that comes between two players. They're probably as good at doing that as anyone in the world at the moment, so it's something I might stay away from this time.”

Wade, who underwent knee surgery recently, is looking to get back to training this week to put forward his case for a place in Australia’s limited-overs’ squad for England tour in September.

“I'd love to be on that tour,” he said.

However, Wade also thinks that Glenn Maxwell might be selected in the team. There’s a possibility that Maxwell’s selection might see Wade miss the flight to England. “I'd say Glenn would come back into that team, he's one of the best players in the world at T20 so he'll come back in at some stage. I see myself as that spare player, the spare batter, the spare keeper ... so that's what I'm probably striving to maintain,” he added.
