In the video chat hosted by ESPNCricinfo, Rahul Dravid was seen sharing a few viewpoints on the modern-day game and some intriguing cricket narratives with Sanjay Manjrekar.

Rahul Dravid claims that Virat Kohli fully understands that real respect for him as a player is attributable to his Test cricket achievements, which Dravid feels is a positive sign for India.

"A good thing for India is Virat Kohli really values Test cricket, he understands that the real respect for him as a cricketer will come from his success in Test cricket, " Rahul Dravid was quoted as saying.

The world now knows that the T20 format played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the game, which also influenced the longest format. Dravid also realizes that the batsmanship in Test cricket has become more enjoyable to watch, with the batsman adopting aggressive strokeplay to yield runs.

"I actually believe Test batsmanship has become more exciting than before, the aggressive element of Test batsmanship is going forward, players are playing shots and it is good to see." Dravid added.

Speaking about the evolution of the game, Rahul Dravid strongly acknowledges that Test cricket is still a pinnacle format as it challenges the capabilities of players to perform under pressure.

"If you're talking about the pressure as a whole, the fact that you have to play for five days in a Test match. There is no running away from that."

The 47-year-old pinpointed the importance of employing defensive batting to play intimidating spells in the toughest conditions, but the game has evolved such that any player can withstand without a good defensive technique.

"I don't think it is becoming irrelevant, maybe the value of defensive batting is not the same as it was a generation ago, it can never become irrelevant, I think you still need to defend your wicket if you want to score suns, I feel now you can survive without a good defensive technique in cricket, " Dravid said.
