You don’t want to go flat out too soon – Curtly Ambrose on Jasprit Bumrah
The Indian fans were ecstatic after BCCI announced the return of Jasprit Bumrah to the Indian squad for the Ireland series, a prelude to the upcoming Asia Cup where the ace quick will be seen back in action donning the Indian threads.
However, iconic West Indies fast bowler, Curtly Ambrose warned against Bumrah going all guns blazing already as that can lead to him relapsing back into a very uncomfortable spot, considering the fact that he just recovered from a very major injury.
Talking on Rev Sportz, Ambrose said, “Bumrah is an asset to the Indian bowling line-up and my advice to him would be to take it a little bit slowly, don’t rush back into it or try to go flat out. When you are really comfortable, then you can go flat out. It’s not a wise thing to go flat out from ball one. You don’t want to be hurt again.”
He further added, “Jasprit Bumrah is a wonderful bowler. He is very different from any of the fast bowlers I have seen, very unorthodox, but highly effective. When you are coming back from an injury after a long layoff, it’s always concerning for the bowler. You don’t want to get injured again and in the back of your mind, you don’t want to go flat out too soon.”
As India take on their arch-rivals on 2nd of September to kickstart their Asia Cup campaign, Bumrah will play a vital role for the Indian cricket team, particularly keeping in mind that they will be eyeing atonement for a slip-up in the preceding edition of the tournament.
