We will ease him into it slowly – Rahul Dravid on Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah made his return to the international circuit after a staggering hiatus due to a stress fracture in his lower back. On his return, he was handed over the Indian team captaincy and he put up a decent shift, taking a brace in each of the two completed T20Is vs Ireland.
However, being the eminent fast bowler that Bumrah is and the kind of pace that he usually operates with, his bowling action once again brings into question - what kind of workload he should be taking straight away?
Indian coach, Rahul Dravid, knowing the fact that Bumrah will be a key component for India’s World Cup aspirations, made it very clear that he would like the pacer to take his time and eventually get settled down instead of rushing him in.
Talking to the press, Rahul Dravid said, “It is great to have them back. Jasprit is someone who we have missed a lot, over the last two years he has not played too many games. We will ease him into it slowly. It was nice for him to get those overs in the tour of Ireland. We have a whole month to build him up before the World Cup. It gives us more options in the pace bowling department.”
As India gear up for their mega clash with Pakistan and KL Rahul ruled out of the first two games, it will be intriguing to witness how India line-up for the clash, and Bumrah's role against the opposition batting unit.
