Yash Dayal reveals how Virat Kohli “backed him completely” during IPL 2024

It was a tough turnaround for rising sensation, Yash Dayal, who found himself at the nadir after being smashed by five sixes by Rinku Singh in IPL 2023. In the mini-auction for IPL 2024, he was picked by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Ever since his inception in the Red, Gold and Blue threads, he has heavily impressed with the ball, that too in an edition that that saw the batters running riots.

In an interview with Sportstak, Dayal revealed how Virat Kohli kept him motivated and the rewards that he reaped were evident for everyone to witness. It wasn’t just Dayal on the pitch but the fast bowler also revealed how Kohli keeps every youngster in the dressing room motivated.

Dayal said, “The biggest thing he (Kohli) said to me was that he will back me the whole season. He told me that I will not feel like I have come to a new place, and he backed me completely. So this was a huge boost up and he talks to the youngsters in such a very healthy way and he is nothing like what people talk about on TV. I don't feel like that.”

Both Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal had excellent seasons in the 2024 IPL. Dayal will be gunning for impressive numbers in the upcoming Duleep Trophy as well which will see India internationals come down to feature in the domestic tournament.
