Yash Dayal earns maiden call-up as BCCI announces India squad for the first Test against Bangladesh
Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal, who represented RCB in the IPL, has been rewarded for consistent performances in the domestic circuit with his maiden call-up to the Indian Test team for the first Test against Bangladesh.
Rishabh Pant’s return also grabbed the headlines, as the young wicket-keeper batter is all set to make his much-awaited comeback to the Indian Test side for the first time since his devastating accident in December 2022.
Dayal was named alongside his RCB teammates Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, with Jasprit Bumrah set to lead India’s seam attack. In another move to bolster India’s batting echelons, KL Rahul is also going to make a return to the side, with his spot in the middle order critical in the company of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
In the first round of the Duleep Trophy, Dayal was in fine touch as he claimed three wickets to propel India B to a comfortable win. His impressive numbers of 76 wickets from 24 matches at an average of 28.89 in First-Class cricket makes him a value addition to the side.
The first Test in Bangladesh will be played in Chennai from September 19th and the second one will be played in Kanpur from September 27th. The two Test matches will be followed by three T20Is.
