What he has done for the IPL and RCB is incredible: Kevin Pietersen on AB de Villiers
RCB have got their IPL 2021 campaign back on track with two big wins against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. While the team has been able to put up a complete performance, fans are still waiting for an ABD special in the UAE leg of the tournament.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Kevin Pietersen thinks that AB de Villiers would want to contribute more towards the team’s success in the matches to come.
After RCB’s handsome win against RR, speaking on Star Sports, Pietersen said, "He (AB) is an established player; he is a senior player. He would not want to see Kohli or Maxwell score the runs he is scoring. He must be thinking 'I'm not holding my side of the bargain. This is just not the AB de Villiers that he is used to seeing".
Pietersen added that AB’s contribution to RCB and the IPL over the years has been immense.
"He is a proud player; he is a fabulous player. We have seen that over a number of years. From his point of view, he would like to contribute. He would be hating the fact that he hasn't been able to contribute. He has contributed so much to the world of cricket and in the IPL. If he gets three ducks in a row, it doesn't matter. What he has done for the IPL and RCB is incredible. However, he would want to score", he further added.
In the 11 matches of the season so far, AB has scored 234 runs at an average of 33.42, while his strike rate of 161.37 is the highest among those who have scored more than 200 runs in the tournament.
