India will commence their Test series against New Zealand tomorrow in Bengaluru and will have a stern challenge at hand. After conquering Bangladesh by a 2-0 margin, Rohit Sharma and company will be hopeful of getting the wheels in motion against the formidable Kiwis and create enough leeway for themselves in a bid to be a part of the WTC final for the third consecutive time, before they set sail for Australia.

Talking at the pre-match press conference, the Indian captain held his cards close to his chest, while making it very clear that the conditions on Wednesday will be the deciding factor, especially considering the rain threat in Bengaluru over the course of the Test.

Rohit said, “It all depends on the conditions. Today it has been raining. The pitch is under covers. We will take a call tomorrow morning on 3 pacers or 2 pacers and our best-playing XI. We are keeping our options open.”

Talking about the team’s approach, he added, “We'll see how the days pan out. Then we will take a call. In Kanpur, we didn't get the game for two days and then decided to go for the win. I don't know what it is going to be here. We'll see what lies ahead of us and then take a call. We want to try and win games.”

India will be playing a three-match Test series against New Zealand which will be crucial in bolstering their grip on the ongoing WTC finale for the third consecutive time. This is the penultimate Test series for India in the ongoing cycle ahead of their tour to Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
