We have got the team who can certainly win the tournament – Rahul Dravid ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

In less than a few hours, Team India will be locking horns with Ireland for their ninth appearance in the T20 World Cup. With a defeat in last year’s semi-finals, they will be hopeful of rewriting the equation and ending an 11-year-long trophy drought in ICC events.

Ahead of their opener, the Indian lads seemed pretty confident as they spoke to ICC in small snippets for a video. It all started with Rahul Dravid, who seemed pretty optimistic of the fact that if the Men in Blue are able to do the right things, then magic can happen.

Rahul Dravid said, “We are looking good. I think we have assembled a good squad. It’s always nice to have some experienced heads in there, people who have been there a little bit, been there before, who have got a proven track record in tournaments like these. It is also nice to bring some infusion of fresh energy into that group.”

He further added, “People who are not scarred by any of these tournaments. If we play well, then we have got the team who can certainly win the tournament. There is a lot of talk about India not having won an ICC tournament over whatever it is but the fact that India is very consistently in the finals and the semi-finals of the tournament like this is a great tribute and a great reflection of the depth of the quality of the Indian squad. Not many teams can claim to have that level of success in terms of consistency of results.”
