Team India confident of infusing the necessary components together to mount a T20 World Cup 2024 title challenge
As India gear up for their outing against Ireland in their season opener of the T20 World Cup, the Indian players believe that the key remains in expressing themselves while also enjoying the process. From Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya, the Indian contingent spoke at length to ICC about the certain factors that can change the tide in India’s favour.
Rohit Sharma said, “We play a lot of T20 Cricket all around. Everyone really knows what is expected and what needs to be done to win games and to win tournaments. If I look back at the last T20 World Cup obviously we fell short with the bat. You learn from the mistakes that you make. You have got to try and come out as a better player and a better team.”
Suryakumar Yadav said, “We just need to play well to win this World Cup. I think that everyone has to come to the party at different stages of the tournament and do their roles properly. That’s it.”
Arshdeep Singh said, “We are having some fun out there with the young ones and not making the senior ones angry as well. We are ensuring the fact that we are not crossing the line. Always trying to keep it light and fun. Making sure that you are getting the best out of everyone.”
Hardik Pandya said, “Lessons learnt that we put our best foot forward every time we take the field. Rectify the mistakes that we have done as a group. Play a brand of cricket that we play fearlessly, enjoy the process, take the challenges. When the big stage comes, take on the challenges and express yourself more than what we have been doing in the past. I think if we can get all these things done, I think we will be in a better space as a team.”
