We have got plenty of power in our batting order - Andy Flower looking forward to RCB’s hard-hitting flair in Chinnaswamy
Last year’s IPL witnessed a different level of power-hitting. Scores close to 270 were almost being chased while anything less than 200 seemed like a cakewalk for the sides chasing. With that kind of charismatic hammering from the batters in mind, RCB ensured the fact that they have decent enough options in their echelons when it came to striking the ball by a fair mile.
In the latest edition of the IPL Mega Auction, RCB signed the likes of Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Romario Shepherd, Jitesh Sharma, Tim David and Jacob Bethell who can whack the ball by a fair mile. Talking about the power-hitting aspect, RCB’s head coach, Andy Flower underlined that he is impressed with the kind of names that have been signed in the squad for IPL 2025 encompassing classy hitters and a handful of wily turners.
Talking in the latest video released by RCB on YouTube, Andy Flower said, “We know that the power game in the IPL generally is becoming more important but at Chinnaswamy, we have got plenty of power in our batting order. Salt up front is a nice balance with Virat and that middle-order is full of power. Rajat with his specialist hitting skill against spin for instance, Liam Livingstone, Tim David and Jitesh Sharma in that middle-order should provide a lot of power but also some finishing skills and calmness that all IPL sides are after.”
He also spoke about the spinners’ department, adding, “We have got a young, exciting leg-spinner in Suyash and then balancing that out, we have got Krunal Pandya, who’s an experienced and uncanny left arm spinner. We think we have covered quite a lot of bases over the two days of the auction.”
