After India’s dominant win against Australia in Perth, there has been a paradigm shift in the overall ICC Test rankings for the Indians. Most of them have earned a quantum leap and have cemented their authority in the echelons. It was an all-round display from Team India that saw them inflict a merciless 295-run win on the hosts.

Jasprit Bumrah who won the Player of the Match award in the first game with his overall tally of eight wickets across both innings, earned his career-best rating, regaining the No 1 position in the ICC Men’s Test Bowler rankings. He earned two spots to leapfrog Kagiso Rabada (2nd) and Josh Hazlewood (3rd) and storm into the top slot.

Bumrah earned his first ace in the Test rankings after bagging a nine-wicket haul against England earlier this year in February while returning to the pole for a brief stint after some impressive bowling against Bangladesh in October. However, Kagiso Rabada was quick to showcase his prowess and snatch the position back from Bumrah only for the Indian ace to hit back strongly at Perth.

His Indian teammate, Mohammed Siraj also earned three spots to move up to the 25th spot in the bowlers’ rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal also earned a couple of places in the rankings with an excellent 161 in the second innings of the Perth Test to move up to the second spot. He also earned his career-best rating of 825 points, while Joe Root stays firmly rooted in the first spot.

Virat Kohli earned nine spots to move upto the 13th position in the rankings following his scintillating century to tame the Aussies. The seasoned Indian all-rounder duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin still remained in the top two places in the all-rounder rankings despite not being a part of the opening Test in Perth.
